Elefsina Works
VIOLIAP implemented special works at the height of Elefsina, focused on the complete restoration of the safety islands and the green fabric surrounding them. The project responded to the need to re-control and manage wild, untamed vegetation that had expanded beyond the boundaries, reducing visibility, interfering with road markings and posing potential risks to road safety.
The intervention began with thorough deforestation of dense, excessive bushes and saplings that had taken over the islands and the immediate side zones. The process was selective, aiming to remove only unwanted and dangerous vegetation, while maintaining healthy and beneficial plants that contribute to the ecological balance and aesthetics of the landscape. Extensive pruning and shaping of the existing trees followed, in order to restore a clear line of sight for drivers and to avoid any overlap of signs or traffic lights.

The approach
At the same time, a detailed cleaning and reconstruction of the islets themselves was carried out, removing accumulated garbage, stones and waste that had been abandoned. The ground was leveled and reinforced where necessary, creating a stable and secure foundation. The result was a radical transformation for the islands, enhancing the safety of the road junction, improving the aesthetic experience of drivers and contributing to the healthy functioning of the National Highway framework. The project in Eleusis highlights VIOLIAP’s ability to perform work that combines technical efficiency with environmental responsibility.
